La Taverna is a traditional Balinese style hotel with bungalows set in beautiful lush gardens. It has a swimming pool and restaurant which nestle beneath the palms overlooking the beach. The staff are traditional Balinese people, world famous for their smiling faces and gentle manner. This is the old Bali, the Bali that has built a reputation for being paradise on earth, the island of the Gods.

The hotel is about 30 minutes drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport and Kuta or it take just 20 minutes to Denpasar, the capital city of Bali. The bungalows were built more than 20 years ago with local material by Balinese craftsmen applying architectural techniques used for centuries thus recreating the old world charm of Bali while unobtrusively building in the comforts of modern day living.

These days La Taverna is situated right on the main street in the heart of Sanur but with a large driveway and mature gardens the hotel has retained its original concept of privacy and tranquility. Little has changed over the years including the restaurant and its reputation for fine food and excellent service. Culinary skills have been handed down.

Sanur beach is one of the very best beaches a fringe of reef is protecting the beach and becoming the safest lagoon ideally suited for swimming and snorkeling without strong currents or large waves so it is safe for children. Further out there is good surfing and snorkeling on the reef edge.

The hotel rooms are set in extensive gardens that were designed by Made Wijaya a landscape architect who has become famous worldwide for the design of Balinese gardens.

Restaurant
La Taverna was one of the first hotels built in Bali. Its owners selected one of the best locations on the island and in the years that followed Sanur grew up as the first resort area of Bali. In those early days La Taverna became recognized as a luxury hotel where many famous people wined and dined. The restaurant gained a high reputation for its fine cuisine with an emphasis on Italian food.

La Taverna restaurant provides fine dining in the main restaurant building overlooking the pool, in the gazebo overlooking the beach or, if you wish, under the stars on the beach itself. The menu has many Italian favourites along with international and Balinese meals. A comprehensive breakfast menu, a range of light meals during the day and of course fine dining meals in the evening.

La Taverna is famous for its pizzas and its wood fired pizza oven was the first in Bali. Our chefs make their own pasta, foccacia bread is made fresh every day and the cappuccinos and lattes are made using the finest Italian coffee. If you wish you can eat on your private verandah with a full room service available. You will find that in Bali meals are very reasonably priced with a European style main course costing around US$7.
